Trying On Dresses


How does it work?

Finding your dream dress in the Borrowing Magnolia collection is as easy as pie, thanks to our In-Home Try-On program. Here’s how it works: Pick out the dresses you love in our collection to try-on in the comfort of your own home. For as little as $40 for your first dress and $29 for each additional dress, we’ll send your selections straight to you. You’ll have five days to ohhh and ahhh over just how fab you look with your family and friends. If one of these gowns is "the one", visit our website to confirm the dress you’d decided to borrow or buy. If you have selected dresses to borrow, pack up your try-on gowns in the packages we’ve provided and drop it off at your nearest FedEx location - we’ve covered the shipping costs. No worries - we'll return them to you well before your wedding day. If you purchase a gown, you can keep it from your try-on as long as you purchase in the 5 day try-on time frame. Who knew looking this fabulous would be this easy?

How do you choose dresses for your collection?

Rest assured that any dress that is included in our hand-curated collection is top-notch, and has passed our personal test for condition and quality. We know you have to look your best on your wedding day!

What is the cost of shipping to try-on a dress?

Great news! We cover the cost of shipping for all try-ons, rentals, and purchases from Borrowing Magnolia.

After confirming the dresses I'd like to try on, how long will it take before they arrive?

We work to quickly process your order within 1 business day and ship them to you. Need it faster or on a specific day? Let us know at [email protected]. Someone will need to sign for the try-on dresses at the shipping address, so please plan accordingly! You’ll receive your FedEx tracking information via email.

How much does try-on cost?

Our try-on program offers you the opportunity to try-on your first dress for $40 and each additional dress is just $29.

How many dresses can I try-on at a time?

You can try-on up to five dresses at one time. If you have a special request and need to try-on more than five dresses at one time, please contact us at [email protected].

How long will I have to try-on the dresses I've selected?

Five days, including the days you receive and return the dresses. Want the try-on dresses on a specific day? Let our concierge know at [email protected]

Can I try-on dresses for longer than the standard time frame?

Contact our concierge at [email protected] if you wish to keep your dresses for longer than 5 days.

How do I return the dresses after I've tried them on?

It’s simple - within 5 days of receiving the dresses, slip the dresses back in the garment bags and pack them back in the packages we sent you. Follow the included packing instructions adhere the return shipping label we included with your dress to the outside of the package. Hand the package off to your local FedEx delivery person or drop it off at a FedEx location. Having trouble packing and/or shipping your dresses back? Contact us at [email protected].

What if my return day is a Sunday?

No worries! Ship us the dress(es) on Monday by 12pm local time.

What happens if I'm late returning my try-on dresses?

Please let us know at [email protected] as soon as possible if you will be late returning dresses. If we don’t hear from you, and the dresses are late, we will charge you for the fair market value of the gowns.

If I like one of my try-on dresses, can I just keep it?

All rental dresses must be shipped back to us on the specified date to avoid any additional charges. If you would like to borrow one of the gowns for your wedding date, you can confirm your rental on our website, and it will be shipped back to you at the specified time (more in the Rental section below). If you are interested in purchasing a sale dress that you’ve tried on, you are welcome to purchase that gown online before your agreed upon return date, and it’s yours! You’ll only need to return the remaining gowns on the specified date to avoid any additional charges.

What happens if my try-on dresses are damaged or lost while I am trying them on?

Please let us know at [email protected] as soon as possible if something happens to the dresses so we can act quickly and minimize long-term impact to the gown. We do reserve the right to charge you for the cleaning cost to remove significant stains or repair damage caused during try-on, however, our concierge will work with you and our cleaning partner to find an optimal solution. Please do not attempt to clean the dress on your own.

Where are you able to ship dresses?

Currently we can ship try-on, rental, and sale dresses to anywhere in the 48 continental United States.

What is your refund policy?

We cannot offer refunds on dress try-ons if you decide not to rent or purchase one of the try-on gowns. Remember, you can continue to try-on additional dresses for a fee ($40 for your first dress, $29 for each additional dress, up to five dresses per try-on).

Borrowing a Dress


What is the cost of shipping when I borrow a dress?

Great news! We cover the cost of shipping for all try-ons, rentals, and purchases from Borrowing Magnolia.

After trying on a dress that I love, I've decided to borrow it for my wedding day! How do I know something won't happen to the dress before I get it back for my rental period?

We begin preparing your dress specifically for you two months before your wedding. This gives us ample time to make sure your gown is ready for you on your big day! We will be in touch with you immediately in the extremely rare occurrence that something unexpected happens to your gown prior to this period. Rest assured that any dress that is included in our hand-curated collection is top-notch, and has passed our personal test for condition and quality. We know you have to look your best on your wedding day!

If I like one of my try-on dresses, can I just keep it?

All rental dresses must be shipped back to us on the specified date to avoid any additional charges. When you confirm your rental, the dress will be shipped back to you approximately one month before your wedding date.

What if I change my mind after I select my rental dress?

Great news! We know that being a bride means making a lot of decisions and sometimes changing your mind. We offer a “Change Your Mind Guarantee” on our rental dresses. Up to one month before your wedding date, you can switch your dress with any other available dress in our rental collection at the same rental value or less at no additional cost. How long do I have a dress that I've decided to borrow for my wedding day?

We ship your rental gown to you approximately one month before your wedding to give you ample time to get it prepped for the big day, and you will ship it back within 4 days of your wedding date. Someone will need to sign for your dress at the shipping address you’ve listed, so please plan appropriately. You’ll receive tracking information via email. Need more time? Will I need to clean or steam my rental gown before wearing it?

All of our gowns are professionally cleaned before we pack them up and ship them to you for your special day. We do our best to minimize wrinkles in transit, but we recommend that you take the gown out of the box and hang it immediately upon arrival. You might still need to have it professionally steamed to make it perfect for your wedding. Contact our concierge at [email protected] for recommendations in your area!

Do I need to clean my rental dress after I wear it?

The best part about borrowing a gown is you don’t need to worry about cleaning or preservation! We’ll take care of all it. Just pack up the dress and send it back, and we’ll do the rest.

It couldn't be easier. Within 4 days of your wedding date, slip the dresses back in the garment bags and into the packages we sent you. Follow the provided instructions and adhere the return shipping label we included with your dress to the outside of the package. Can I rent my dress for longer than the standard time frame?

Contact our concierge at [email protected] if you wish to have the dress shipped more than one month in advance, or if you wish to keep it longer than 4 days after your wedding.

What if my return day is a Sunday?

Can I alter my rental dress?

Yes! We allow reversible alterations on most rental dresses. Please contact our concierge at [email protected] for assistance.

What happens if my rental dress is damaged or lost during rental?

We understand that basic wear and tear is inevitable, so we offer a $50 insurance policy. It is highly recommended that you add this policy, as it will cover all minor stains and damage up to $500. Our insurance does not cover significant damage or loss of a gown except as a result of a/an:

  • Crime in which a police report was filed
  • Act of God (e.g., hurricane, flooding, earthquake, volcanic eruption)

What is your refund policy on dress rentals?

While we do not offer refunds on rentals, we do have a “Change Your Mind Guarantee” on our rental dresses. Up until one month before your wedding date, you can switch your dress with any other available dress in our rental collection at the same or lesser rental value at no additional cost!! Buying a Dress


What is the cost of shipping to buy a dress

Great news! We cover the cost of shipping for all try-ons and purchases if you purchase a dress during your try-on period. If you choose to purchase a dress after it's been shipped back to us after the try-on period or if you finance a dress, you will be responsible for shipping the gown back to you.

If I like one of my try-on dresses, can I just keep it?

If you are interested in purchasing a sale dress that you’ve tried on, you are welcome to purchase that gown online before your agreed upon return date, and it’s yours! You’ll only need to return the remaining gowns on the specified date to avoid any additional charges.
